Besides being a dedicated homemaker, she also is well-versed in regards to firearm training: she owns four guns and is a card-carrying member of the Nation Rifle Association. She is a staunch conservative, owning and displaying a framed photograph of noted Republican President Ronald Reagan in her home. She is also a conservative Christian and homophobic, though as of the third season Bree has slowly renounced her disdain for homosexuals with the revelation that her son Andrew was gay, and also his revealing that her homophobic response towards him when he came out of the closet was the driving force towards the pain he inflicted upon Bree during season two.

Gabrielle, a retired model in her late 20's, married carlos solisfor money, but found satisfaction with john rowland, her teenage gardener. She questions her relationship with Carlos, commenting once that she loved him and all her teenage fantasies had been fulfilled, yet she still wasn't happy. Susan MayerSusan Bremmer grew up believing her father died at war and was raised by her mother, Sophie Bremmer. Her mother's erratic love life led to some distance between the two of them but they have always remained close. Susan was a high school cheerleader and graduated as valedictorian. She later married karl mayer and they had a daughter together but their marriage was a very difficult one due to Karl's infedelity. He finally left her for his secretery and filed for divorce. Julie was then her only shoulder to cry on and their relationship has strengthened ever since but both of them still have issues about being sometime in a role reversal with Julie playing the adult and Susan making many mistakes. mary alice young also supported her which brought her to question how she could have committed suicide.

Lynette used to be a high-powered advertising executive but now her husband Tom travels almost all the time and her ADHD afflicted boys and infant daughter are driving her crazy. It is as though she took a new job she thought she would love, and now she desperately misses her old one but she is so driven that she tries to apply the same go-getter methods she used at work to being a mom. Edie BrittEdie is a serial divorcée, having already two marriages behind her at the beginning of the show. She, just like susan mayer, is attracted to mike delfino which brings in some drama between the two and leads Susan to accidentally burn her house when she thinks they are having sex. It is mentioned by her only friend martha huber that she has a son but he only appears in Season 3. She is really shaken by Martha's death and is the only one to want to give her some burial. At this occasion Susan, having learnt that Martha had written about the fire incident in her diary, reveals the truth to Edie who uses Susan's guilt as a way to step into the Housewives' group.
